Hey All,
So I've got some time on my hands with the Chi-Comm Bio-Weapon Plague and all.
Been inventorying my old ammo. I have a dozen boxes of the old paper hulled shells left.
.410, 20 ga, 16 ga, 12 ga. We had cases and cases of each.
My duck hunting buddy and I were given them in the early '80s.
Our kids could never shoot them all up. We tried, 40 years ago.
I even bought a .410 years ago as a farm gun, and to put a dent in the
2 cases of modern (at the time) plastic hulled .410 nobody else wanted.
So I put in a small dent, what with the skunks, raccoons, foxes, coyotes, killer dogs, and such.
Still have 14 boxes of Remington Express Kleanbore, .410, 3 inch, 6s, left.

Anyway
This was my Pinterest project (yeah right!) for yesterday.

It Was Fun.

I had to dig out that other box of shotshells.
It's "Western" made by Olin, not "Western Auto".

says on plastic side;
"Western, DOVE LOAD, 3 3/4 - 1- 7 1/2, ".
Headstamp; "WESTERN, 12 GA, "

Found some purple Wards shells,
plastic side says " 6, WARDS, 3 1/4 - 1 1/8, LONG RANGE ".
Headstamp; " 16, (a duck outline), GA, MADE IN USA, " .

And some waxed paper or oiled coated paper? Sears shells,
paper says; " Sport, 3 - 1, 8, LOAD, ".
Headstamp; " SEARS, 12 GA, SPORTLOAD,".

Fun Stuff,

Take Care,
jm

My old friend who left Gun Digest gave me these slugs from BRI - Ballistic Research Industries
in Calif. These first appeared in 1968. Believe Winchester manufactured some too ?47312

The last shells I put thru my father's dbl barrel were Western Auto 12 ga purple paper hulls. I was dove hunting (1963) in the evening over milo fields to catch them coming in for water before roosting for the night and had a right to left crosser. I drew down and fired. I knew I had hit, because I saw the feathers. I looked and looked but couldn't find the bird. I broke the action to reload, pulled out the shell and the front 1/4 inch was shreaded. The "feathers" I saw were the front part of a 2 3/4" shell fired in a 2 1/2" chamber. Hunt ended right then.
