In the slingwell is a flaming bomb and "OI", along with a circular mark I'm unfamiliar with. I'd like to know if it's "correct" for the serial number 1479XX, barrel dated 12-42. Thanks for the help! 👍47594

I tore 1479XX down for cleaning and parts inventory. Here's what I found. Type one (double beveled) trigger housing, not pictured.

Safety not pictured is checkered with the "shoulder" around checkering.
Everything looks good! (I THINK)
The circular mark in the sling well is just an accidental happening, meaning nothing. The rest of the stampings are correct for the serial number.
But your trigger is a type 2 and it should be. The rest looks ok too.

This photo from a website is what led me to believe the hammer was a type one. I'm very much a novice, I wouldn't be able to identify them just by memory (yet). Maybe you can see how I was fooled.47625

No....You are right and I was wrong. It is a type 1 not a type 2 hammer. Its what I get for NOT wearing my glasses when I should.

OK, so is it still "correct" ( I almost hate to use that term) for a 12/42 barrel date, Feb/Mar '43 production Carbine? Thanks for all the info!
Closer to Jan/Feb. 1943 for your serial number.
