The story of John Chapman the USAF Combat Controller that was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions in Afganastan in the battle of Takur Ghar.
The book chronacles his becomming a CCT and his preperation and actions in the attempted rescue and assault of the Al Qaeda/Talabin position.
SEAL Neal Roberts fell from his helo when it attempted an assault landing on the mountain, where it was hit with an RPG, necessitating its withdrawal and crash-landing in the valley.
During the second assault / rescue mission Chapman was gravely wounded and believed to be dead when the team he was supporting was forced to withdraw, leaving him alone, at night, on the mountain to face the enemy.
Great read.
