Summer 2920 (just arrived) titled, The Collector's Dilemma about a SN 10K Garand with an odd mux of early parts that had folks coming up with theories on how it might be so. In the end, a guy who had that bare receiver told them "it's a complete restoration". This gets at the problem with Garands and Carbines and collectors. For a collector, if substantial value depends on a oddball story being true, then stay away.

I and my brother both have 3 digit receivers,

mine was redone (7th round) back in the 40's, his refinished (gray park) sometime later,

both were school guns, acquired by my father back in the early 70's,
I know he found some early parts back then and replaced them on my gun, not sure about the one my brother has (unbeknownst to him at the time, they were both made in the same month we were born in, kinda a neat coincidence),

I sold 4 for a friend a few years ago that were complete restorations, done very well, as in parts matched colors, wear etc very well, , and all 'correct',
and sold as such, (a restoration)

good a very good amount of cash for each (Springfields, 42/43/44/45 dates)

however I have no way to know if they are sold in the future, if they will be sold as originals ,or restorations,
