View Full Version : Fewer Garands
Has anyone else noticed fewer Garands, if any, showing up at the gunshows?
no,
but I bought about 20 or so in an estate (and carbines too) last year,
the last few gunshows there were plenty out there,
but I am on the east coast, lots of Military hear,
I went to a show yesterday in Council Bluffs, Iowa and there were mostly hunting rifles and shotguns.
not a single M1 rifle or carbine. Not even any M1A’s.
I went to a big gun store in Omaha too and couldn’t find any of the Garands or M1A’s that they usually carry.
There were a lot of empty spaces in the rack.
I've not been to a gun show in a couple years but I noticed few, even 2 years ago.
I seen them listed occasionally for sale for very high prices. I read the occasional forum posting here and there, asking where to buy one. Explanations about the CMP are often met with derision or disbelief.... odd, IMO.

Likely a combination of them running out and maybe a fear that Joe and Co are going to ban semi-auto battle rifles. Keeping in mind they haven't been made since the mid 50's.
M1A’s, being commercial sporting rifles, are probably not being currently made or distributed due to the Covid Panic. That being a pure WHAG though.
Kind of surprised there are any gun shows operating.
This is from the CMP's web site.
"Our rifle inventory is limited at this time due to our log of back orders and the 7 week CMP shutdown due to COVID-19. Our stores were stocked before we left for quarantine and we did not pull the stock back because it would slow all processes. We hope to open up rifle types again once we have restocked our inventory and processed the majority of our back orders."
So's this.
"...limited to eight per calendar year, per customer."
I think people are buying them and keeping i sold a bunch of my M1s no problem getting to old no one in my family wants anything to do with them keeping only the really good ones
