Loading a batch of Berger 55 gn for .223 today.

Running a batch of 250 rnds of .223 today using Berger 55 gn flat base varmint bullets over 25 gn of IMR-8208 set off with BR-4 primers. Matchmaster is dropping loads of powder within .02 gn of the target load in match mode. Whatta Hobby!

Camera is just not showing the kernals of powder all over the bench and the floor. I do like to keep things organized after seeing some of the kabooms from poor loading practices. I always keep the jug of powder I am loading in plain sight. I also remember to ultra clean the powder hopper on my measures even though I don't often load for pistols. It only takes one time.

I hear you on the powder container (apparnely J-u-g-s is a naughty word??)

I had a friend (RIP, but not from a reloading error) blow up a Smith 29 and an AR (twice on the AR, once while I was the same match, his son shot his dad's reloads and the powder was mixed)

no one hurt, other than pride, and later found he had gotten sloppy with some 2400 and 748

I use quite a bit of Power Pistol for the 5.7 x 28 and the strength of that scares the dickens out of me.

It's always a reload. The only FU I've done reloading was to miss a case. The primer went thunk. The bullet went about a 1/2" up the bore. Of course it was with company and I got chastised. Knocked it out with the cleaning rod.

With over half a century of loading, it hasn't happened to me " yet ". I have been weighing and loading one cartridge at a time and sort of get a rhythm going and I ain't even Catholic.

Last batch is doing a pretty good job for me. 10 rnd groups at 100yds are decent seeing I shoot off of a bipod on a 3 legged portable bench until thing dry out enough here for my normal prone. Whatta Hobby!

It?s a ?bone of contention? of mine to read how some guys think 3 or 5-shot groups somehow qualify as a mark of ?accuracy?.

I guess you and I are dinosaurs in what qualifies as an ?accurate? rifle!

10 or more is the only way to fly in my book. Thanks to Art Luppino starting the 10 dot challenge on the M14 forum, I have been doing pretty well with my built up M14s. Keeps me from getting too rusty.
