View Full Version : when did the us convert from khaki 10 pocket ammo belts to olive drab
hi guys , when did the us convert from khaki 10 pocket ammo belts to olive drab,
I am trying to assemble a period rig for my 1941 Winchester Garand and another for my 1903 springfield,
please post, many thanks, satan
As with almost everything US military it isn't clean cut. Any web gear made while the rifles were in service would be technically correct. If you want 1941-42 exclusively you're going with khaki.

If you want a really correct early WW II cartridge belt it should be set up for M1903 clips and have the strap and snap inside the pockets. That belt would be correct for the M1, M1903 or M1917 rifles.

The Model 1923 cartridge belt was used up through the Korean war, and would be correct for either rifle. The inner pocket straps were dropped during WWII.
