View Full Version : 1879 Carbine Cleaning Rod Section
I bought a 1879 Carbine and when I opened the butt plate compartment, there were 2 rod sections inside. One has the end tip and the other has the threaded barrel end on it. I need one middle Cleaning Rod Section to complete the rod assembly. Please let me know if anyone has an original section to part with.

And you also need the early shell extractor with the three prongs that the center rod goes thru it the buttstock.
Hi Tom,
yes, I need the extractor also.

Look here for the AUTHENTIC parts:
The U.S. Springfield Trapdoor Rifle Information Center (http://trapdoorcollector.com/)
scroll thru to the appropriate section.
I have checked there, but they only have 3 piece sets for sale.

I'll check, I might have an extra rod - do not have a surplus extractor.
The center hole in the butt stock is 2" deeper than the outer holes. Also the rear sight screws are very buggered and very tight. Is it worth the effort to replace them or should I leave well enough alone?
