We had a guy(an Indian import) who couldn't handle the job. He actually rented a space and filled it up with mail. OK, Mail isn't what it used to be. But your birthday card is in there somewhere maybe.

seems we have one of these stories every holiday season,

for a good while, I had a regular UPS guy,
in a related, kinda, way, he told me the volume would jump exponentially each fall, as expected,
biggest issue they had, besides the long hours, was part time or temp help,

they would hire folks, many would never show up for the first day
he said they actually hired and picked people up, no need for the help to drive tot he depot, they arranged a pick up point on the route,
lots never showed,

and lots, after an hour or so of work, would get off at a stop and leave,

Especially the rural route carriers. There's a lot to it. People would quit after the first day. And now days, no one really wants to work. The fast food places pay by the day.

If they cannot deliver, they have no right to advertise that they deliver. They have no right to accept money for a job they admit they cannot do.

They deliver a large percentage of the time. Large enough. Maybe your neigbors kid can figure out a better system. I think UPS was a college kids thesis. As I recall. I heard they aren't perfect either.
