ah Lyman I was just going to post something about music but I have lost track. So, to start over, I kind of hated metal. I got over skulls by about the fifth grade. The loud croaky voice didn't blow me away.
But just last night I looked up the Cranberries because I couldn't remember Delores O'Riodans name. No one had heard a voice like that. Irish. So yeah, I can listen to some headbanger under some circumstances. We've all heard Zombies, so no link.

The animation kind of stuff (it always has that Japanese look) is good for some tunes. I remember Monsters and Men did a lot of that. I liked that band, but it was pretty much marching music with a lot of "hey". When the nice Islandic girl got all tattooed up I stopped being a fan.

I have to add the story about Evanescence. So, I was driving the old Control road below the rim. I came out up on a bluff and there was a big black cloud approaching from the east. The wind was blowing and I was ah, well, I had the radio on and the storm was looking ominous and I got a dose of Evanescence.

I am not a metal person, generally speaking, but do like Leo's (frog leap studios) covers sometimes,

he does another, with Mary Spender, of Dire Straits Sultans of Swing, pretty damn good,

Mary Spender, what a sweetheart (I'll look that up). I'm surprised at the commonality some of us have in music. SYA (Suddenly Years Align) and Foxes and Fossils and a few others have been mentioned here. If any trio of women are doing Helplessly Hoping I'm all ears. It might take a month to listen to all the covers of that song. A while back someone did a short rundown of good Utube bands and I had listened to every one of them.

speaking of croaky voices,

ever listen to The Hu?

That's hilarious and it rings a bell. When my brother was in Alaska his neighbor had an all native band. They had made a CD and he got a copy. His wife hated it. She said it was an album of yelling.

Did you ever buy and album and immediately threw it away? I can think of a few. After work we were at the bar and someone played something by Janes Addiction on the Juke Box (a what?). I liked something about it and bought the album and immediately threw it out. Some how I wound up with Patty Smiths first record. That went right in the trash. Same thing with a Captain Beefheart record. Then there was Dada's third album. I love that band and played the first two to death. I wanted to like the 3rd. I played it every which way but finally gave up on it.

The majority of time I listen to classical music when at the office, usually this will be Russian and French composers. I like to listen to audio books when walking and as well in the evening. I also like to listen to TED talks dealing with pastoral ministry, etc. Sincerely. bruce.

Years ago when my hearing was better I would sit down with a book and some classical music. I'd turn it down to where I could just barely hear it and then in a few minutes I'd notice I could hear every note.
