I just received a 1911A1 Remington Rand 1944 model. Matching gun about 90% black parkerized finish someone decided to deface the dust cover and scratched the name SAM right after U.S. ARMY.
I have slowly used a med stone and removed most of the damage, one more day to go to remove it all.
Now what to do?
1. Clean with acetone, bead blast damaged area only with fine glass, and repark frame.
2. Clean with acetone bead blast slide and frame and refinish in black park.
3. Clean with acetone bead blast entire gun and refinish in zinc phosphate returning pistol to original finish
Not the first gun I have refinished, have tanks, chemicals and skills.
TIA

Just me, but I would go with the original zinc phosphate. Depending on the surface preparation before it was refinished, the polished area should match this. The surface preparation affects the final color of the phosphate finish. Normally, the smoother the darker the appearance.
