For some reason I really like picking up binocs when I can and when they are affordable.

Is that the 7X50 night glasses, lloks like the pair i have. Did have a pair of 6X30 Universal Camera Co., but other family member took em.
About 10 years ago I was able to pick up two Brit binoculars. One, the No5 Mk4 "Tuna Cans" had come right out of Brit. Storage and had obviously not been used since "FTR" The leather case was brand spankin' new. An excellent set of binos though a bit on the heavy side by todays standards.
The other pair is the old No2 Mk3 model that Montgomery was often seen with. These were surplussed out to the Israelis at some point and the P 37 carrying case is clearly Israeli marked on the outside. The black anodizing has been removed from the brass portions and the brass polished.
I considered the "Tuna Cans" a steal at $250.00 and I paid less than $200.00 for the No2's. Both were bought from the same distributor.
Two very nice artifacts dating from the days when the Brits were an industrial powerhouse and had, among other things, a thriving optical industry.
Found these in a Second Hand Shop about two years ago. Paid $28.00 for them. Just read the U.S. Navy BuShips on them. Once I got them home and cleaned a bit saw the Carl Ziess/Jena on them. Optics are still clear and I use them a lot.
