I wonder how many planes went completely out of control or blew up while going through that checklist. I'll bet if a plane was in real trouble (serious fires for instance) that list got short cut in a hurry.

That guy is actually posting a number of detailed descriptions of bomber crew positions and such. No fluff to it either, he gets right to it. There's one on the Sperry Ball Turret that really covers it well.

There were many times when the centrifugal force from a spinning plane kept many men 'glued' to the aircraft preventing them from jumping out!

Father-in-law was a tail gunner on a B 26. Bailed out over Breast thru the right side gunner "hole". Spent a several months as a guest of the Germans.
