Wax with car wax? Rub oil on nosed???

I use a thin coat of Vaseline on most anything gun related. Just need a thin coat. Nothing greasy.

If your speaking of reloaded rounds you have saved over a period of time, to keep it from forming, when seating the bullets, make sure you use surgical gloves when handling the bullets. The oil/acid you have naturally on your hands causes a reaction between the copper and the brass. I would guess it would apply to the copper and the lead also. Just a guess on my part.

Moisture and carbon dioxide are the culprits in lead bullets oxidizing. Common to find in old boxes of ammunition. Modern soft tip ammunition has a protective coating applied to prevent this.

In about 3 months it will have been 160 years since these bullets were dropped.

Those were all "drops", or never fired.

These were fired.
