View Full Version : Would somebody explain this?
30-06 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER M1 GARAND 24 INCH " BARREL
That is the description of a Garand for sale on a gun auction.
30-06 Springfield (Springfield Armory) is the cartridge.
IHC is the manf of the Garand.
I thought it was odd that the seller thought he needed to tell is that his M-1 Garand was unique in barrel length and caliber.

Not unusual at all. There are a lot of them out there that have been re-barreled to .308 Winchester and some to 270. Specification helps the seller avoid confusion. Wording might be a bit off for most.

+1
Plus the Tankers have 18" barrels but should/would have been noted in the description.
local auction or site like Gunborker?
I have noticed that a lot of small local auctions have a tough time with firearms nomenclature, or just general knowledge,
link would help

May be a Springfield Armory re-barreled with a LMR barrel, or an International Harvester rebarreled with a Springfield barrel.
