I was goofing around in the workshop this morning and trying to decide on which stock Bula Defense System XM21 # 87 should find a home in. I am partial to either of the USGI fiberglass the standard and the camo both fit the bill. Then there is the Boyds walnut T44 and a USGI Birch. Looking over a dozen others hanging on the wall, these seem to be my choices at the moment. Whatta Hobby!

Walnut -- that's what the issue stock is.

My M1, made in the mid-50s by Harrington and Richardson, underwent arsenal rebuild and has an upper handguard that is light and striped, compared to the rest of the stock which is dark and featureless. Whenever someone advises me to replace that handguard, I tell them, "This is how she was issued."

Some were birch and fiberglass but yeah, I prefer the walnut too.

I prefer the M1A stock w/o the cutout but I know you glue in the selector to make it look more authentic.

The selector switches go in the company safe, and the Company Commander loses the combination. At least that's how I did it.

They started using a block instead of a selector too. A round looking knob that couldn't be twisted to F/A fire mode.

Whoever designed the M14 for full auto fire had pond scum for brains.

Now, there is a thinking person. Learned how to fire full auto, but never was issued an M14 with anything but the lockout installed. Worked great for me. Ammo conservation is a good goal. Sort of like the mag locks on the 1903 theory.

The magazine cutoff on the M1903 is also the bolt stop -- and is cheaper and more rugged than the bolt stop on the '98 Mauser. So I have no quarrel with it.
