View Full Version : first month of production for gas port barrels S-A 6-40
The first gas port barrels started production in June 1940, these barrels are quite rare to locate.
Many of these barrels were also used in direct conversions from gas trap to gas port rifles526015260252603
Cool! How's the bore? TE/MZ measurements? Future plans for this barrel? Sincerely. bruce.
The bore is not that good will need to work on it, maybe shooting too. Did anyone notice the circulat cut near the gas port
hole ? Seen a few S-A 7-40 and S-A 9-40 barrels also with that circular cut or groove. reason unknown ?
Also have a really nice S-A 10-40 barrel (no circular groove) with an exc bore and TE 2.0 reading. I had intended to use this
barrel on a 80K receiver WW2 rebuild rifle but decided not to restore the original Ww2 rebuild but to leave it as found. Came
from a WW2 USMC Seabee that was friends with my father526155261652617
