The best way to sell. All in one ad and accessories in separate ad?
I plan on using Simpsons LTD for consignment.
Thanks for your replies.

I usually sell them in a package. I just sold an '03 with the sling and oiler and thong kit which it turned out was a "sweetner" that helped sell it very quickly. Now I do believe you might get just a bit more by selling the accessories individually especially if it includes things like a bayonet or vintage web gear but it depends on your priorities and how long you're willing to wait for the stuff to sell.

My personal experience and devalued $.02 worth, and of course your mileage may vary.

If I were a buyer I would say OK but "don't overdo it" price wise because a lot of us are going to want different accessories, especially a scope.

Like Art said, on some accessories you may make a little more selling them individually but do you want to go to that trouble?

My 2 cents worth is: it depends upon price and what accessories.

To a younger buyer the added stuff may be like a magnet if they don't have much collected already. To an older buyer they may think, oh crap, I've got enough of that stuff already.

dealers perspective,

accessories are extras, as in we buy the rifle, maybe bump the price up a smidge for extras,
scopes, depends on what brand and vintage,

a nice Vintage Unertl or Leupold, etc will be priced, at least by me or my brother) Separately ,

a Bushnell, tasco etc, no bump or credit at all,

really depends on what you are selling,

Rem 700, generic or low to medium end scope, typical hunting sling, will be priced out like a standard Rem 700 with out,

I agree . . . .

The dealer in my area gives NO ADDED premium for a typical scope . . .(unless a Unertl or Lyman STS,Fecker)
He only sees the rifle . . . .NOT the scope.

As mentioned, depends on value of accessories. Little value, let them go with rifle, but if high value accessories sell separately.

My rifle in question is a 1889 Springfield trapdoor in pristine condition having been stored till the early 50's. I have an original bayonet, belt mounted U.S.ammo pauch, RCBS reloading dies, several hundred 500 grain and 405 grain lead bullets and several loaded and empty carrtidges.

I had in mind a modern rifle with accessories which seemed a necessity at the time, but with the accessories to a Trapdoor I would price it all at one price.

A friend of mine mentioned buying a TD from Simpson. Does your have the front sight hood, sling, etc.?

Knowing what you have, especially for optics is important.
The generalization above generally should apply to the low end stuff~ but knowing what is still in demand will carry you a bit further.

There were some very good scopes made under the above labels.
The Legend 5-15 X 40mm is still sought after, as are several older japan made others with the B&L diamond mark.
The japan made Tasco 10 X 40mm target still commands a hefty premium, and they are still sought after by the B/R crowd.

A little on-line research into these things helps a lot...

Yep, good friend and gun show buddy bought it. He collects Lugers, but buys a few really nice pieces occasionally.

He received the rifle yesterday. Had to delay shipment due to wife having minor surgery, but arrived safe and sound. Haven't seen it yet, but he said it was best he had seen in a long time.
