I am trying to list my guns and give my heirs a reasonable of values of the thirty +- guns in the safe.

I have a document that says my Dad bought a pistol back to the States from battles in the Pacific.

The gun is not for sale but I have seen them on sale for $400-$2,400.

Any info is appreciated .

Guns International is about as good a source as there is out there to see what others are asking. Since there is no absolute value, you get an average view of prices.

I strongly agree with what you are doing. My daughter rather delicately asked me to do the same so I developed an inventory that included photographs, serial numbers, a description including anything interesting about the firearm, caliber, the date of manufacture, and an estimated value. I then did a similar inventory of my collection of bayonets and swords

I had previously asked my daughters to get their firearms licences so that they could take possession of them when the time came and both of them did so, getting both their basic licence and the restricted (i.e. handgun) licence. In Canada, you need a "Possession and Acquisition" licence to purchase or own a firearm or to buy ammunition.

Good to have the information. Might be needed in 6 months, 6 years, or who knows when. The list can be updated, but at least there is something to go by.
