By the time Christmas comes the tree will be a naked wooden stick

And a fire hazard before Thanksgiving if using a real tree.

TV Christmas movies by the hundreds (some from July to January), big box stores filled with Christmas stuff along side Halloween crap. Makes one sick of the season already!

Buy your Christmas ornaments and stuff now. By the time December rolls around all you will find is Valentine displays.

When I was a kid Christmas trees were adorned
with small lit candles. Placement was critical.

I'm old but I can't top that. You may have still lived in England then?

I remember trees always being real, fresh cut with what we grew here (mostly red cedars), the large tree lights, the long fluid filled lights that bubbled when they got hot, and the chrome looking plastic icicles. To this day the smell of cedar trees remind me of Christmas.

Yes that was in England. You had to make sure the candle
had no branch above it. The candles were about 1/4 x 2"
and came with a clip on base. You never left them unattended.

Very much enjoy Thanksgiving ... Advent ... Christmas ... New Years. This will be the first year my wife and I will celebrate the holidays together in our own home. We bought it and moved in on June 15th of this year. Just thrilling to have our own place and to be able to share these wonderful time with our loved ones. Sincerely. bruce.

Maybe that's where the use of cone shaped trees came from?

Some people now, to be different, hang them from the ceiling upside down. Those candles wouldn't work out too well with these.
