Having a ball goofing off today, as usual. Will be headed out to the range with an older rifle today. Savage 110 .223. Don't see many long actions from Savage in this caliber. Scope is a Leupold VX-III 6.5 - 20 with fine target dot. Installed a Rifle Basix trigger for a nice light let off. I think this girl has been in the fold for over 3 decades and needs some exercise. Used to be a 1/4 moa shooter in another lifetime. Whatta Hobby!

Made a scope adjustment of 1 R and 1 D for the next time out. Absolutely no wind today so I have no excuses. Should make it another 10x shooter. Whatta Hobby!

Barrel cooling entertainment. Right at 125 yds and behind where I am shooting. Whatta Hobby!

The target results from you are great as usual. Nearly at the point of expecting near perfect results from you every time.
Have to say that young buck you have pictured seems to be under feed. Is this normal for your area? Possible lack of food available or just to many deer.

This time of year they can look pretty ragged when they have been wrestling with others.

Out shooting my Savage 110 .223 in a recently installed ORYX chassis. Have been doing pretty good using a bipod but today decided with a new load to go for a rest and rear bunny bag. Just had a feeling it was right. Had a decent group going at 100 yds until the 4th shot moved to the right a half inch. Dang, a couple of nice deep breaths and the 5th came home. Load is a Berger 55 gn fb varmint bullet over 26.5 gn of Varget in neck sized Starline brass set off with BR-4s. Pretty sure this setup will be shooting in the low .2s the next time out. Whatta Hobby!

2 rnd sight in worked great after in the house laser boresight. First shot was 4 moa high and 4 moa left. Scope adjustment put the second shot within 1/4" of aim point. Dang I like these Night Force scopes.
Not down to 1/4 moa yet, but getting close. Just under 1/2 moa today. Sure getting excited to get her to the magical 1/4. Rifle and ammo are fine, it's the trigger monkey's built in wobble factor that is the problem. Temp 35 with a very slight breeze. Scope with 1/8 moa clicks sure helps place things better than the 1/4. Whatta Hobby!

Have to make a correction on my earlier post. Load was 23.5 of Varget, not 26.5. Went out one more time for the day and I know the rifle is capable. Less than 1/4" vertical dispersion at 100 yds. so the ammo load is working and that darn flyer out to the left got me. Now if I can take care of the trigger monkey's horizontal wobble factor, I may have it nailed. Whatta Hobby!

Having a ball with this Savage. It is a shooter for sure. The X ring on the MR-31C is 3/4" 10 rnd group is just under 3/8" at 100 yds. Whatta Hobby!

After reading your first post on your 110, I ordered a RifleX trigger for my .308 Stevens 200. The new trigger was a 100% improvement over the horrible OEM trigger. Thanks

In regard to the deer concern, not sure where you are, but here in Arkansas CWD is starting to show up. Not sure what our latest data is, though,

NW CT. During the rut, most deer look pretty haggard around here especially the young an up and coming guys. Don't think it's a problem with food or too many deer. Most of the year they are tip top. Whatta Hobby!

Out playing with a Savage 223 this morning on one of the flyswatter targets at 100 yds. A little windy but what the hey. Only scored an 8 after doing a 10 with her big brother in .308 last week. Rifle is in a MDT ORYX chassis and scoped with a Night Force competition 15-55x52 on Leupold QRW rings. Ammo is handloads Starline brass with Berger 73 gn over 23 gn of Varget. Whatta Hobby!

Getting down to the nitty gritty on a decent 100 yd load for the Savage 110 .223 20" 1-9 bull barrel. Scope is NF Competition 15-55x52. Brass used is new weighed Starline with 1 gn segregation. Cold clean bore 10 rnd group was shot with 23 gn Varget pushing same 73 gn Berger bullet for an initial cold clean bore .45. After each group was shot a dry patch was pulled through the bore and cooler run for 5 minutes. Me thinks the .2 moa final load will do nicely on the fly swatter challenge. Shot off a front rest with rear bunny bag. Whatta Hobby!

Looking forward to weekend shooting. Was waiting for a couple more OSS suppressor adapters which seem to be suck in the postal system so I took on off one of my M14s for the time being. Rifle is ready for business. Whatta Hobby!
