I am looking for a .22 lr auto pistol that is reliable. What are your recommendations?

Have had extremely good results with Ruger Mk. II's. Have bought and shot and swapped a bunch of them. Nearest thing to problem free using good ammunition. The target model w/ heavy barrel is about the best of the best. Once had a Goverment Model w/ the longer barrel. It was accurate but just to heavy for anything but use at the range. For just carrying and shooting in the woods/fields, I really like the Standard Model, it's everything you need and nothing more. HTH. Sincerely. bruce.

Lots of good .22LR pistols on the market. I've had good luck with Hi Standard back in the day and even S&W Model 41s when I was into bullseye competition although they can be finicky with ammo. Standard velocity 40g is generally best. I currently have a couple Browning Buckmarks and a Ruger Mark IV which are very reliable and provide decent enough accuracy for most folks.

Best for what? Plinking, hunting, competition, target shooting? Big $$ swings there.

The Taurus TX-22's are cheap, reliable, and fairly accurate. It comes with a suppressor adapter and eats the Subsonic Winchester .22LR. I have put over 1,000 rounds of various subsonic ammo through mine and yes, you need to clean the pistol. It also helps if you put a couple of drops of CLP on a paper towel and roll your ammo on it to ensure ejection. Cleaning the pistol every 100 rounds is quick and easy!

I love the gun!

Have and have had several Ruger Mk II, great pistol. I'd take a hard look at the S&W Victory before buying a Ruger Mk IV though. Seems every improvement.....

I have a Browning Buckmark and have always been happy with it. It seems to handle all 22s without problems but works very well with CCI Mini-mags. I don't think that I have had more than the very occasional jam - so few that I can't remember any. Since I'm not a very good shot I am reluctant to comment on the accuracy of the pistol but at 25 yards most shots are on the paper. I have fairly small hands and it fits them very well

For an every day pistol I would go with Ruger.

Sig Sauer 1911-22. Big store price @ $500, but locally usually $300+ new.

I have had a bunch of .22 lr handguns. The favorite of my friends, mostly law dogs and Ex military and their spouses is the Ruger MK2 model 512. Heavy barrel, blued, target sights, and 51/2-inch barrel. It really shines for pest control around the property. I had to find six of these for some of my shooting friends after they shot mine. Pistol has been trouble free for 30 years,

My favorite .22 pistol is a Ruger Mk I that came through the NRA/DCM Sales program. Owned a bunch of .22 pistols and revolvers, but that one has been the most reliable and accurate for me.

The Woodsman Series II and the III.

Then a Ruger Single action with the .22LR & >22WMR cylinders.
