View Full Version : Mosin M44 varient.
Picked up this M44 in 1966 for $15. and it came in a Fajen Monte Carlo stock. Used her for harvesting deer in the 60s and 70s with iron sights. Now sits in an Archangel chassis with a Timney trigger /safety and sports an EZ Tap 2-7 barrel mounted scope. After 80 years and countless rnds through her, she still maintains moa accuracy with .311 handloads. I think the Ruskies may have known what they were doing once upon a time. Whatta Hobby!

A strong action to handle a strong cartridge but yeah, maybe a little overkill. No harm there though.
Wonder why they didn't just copy the U.S. or Germans on rifles since they are so good at copying. I know they had Remington and Westinghouse build some of their WW1 Mosin's.
"Enemy at the gates" with Ed Harris and Jude Law was a good endorsement for their rifles.

My LGS has a scoped Mosin Nagant priced at $1200. Nothing special about it, grungey wood, worn metal finish, scope not aligned/mounted correctly.
They will have it for a long time I'd bet!
