Got an extra 500 cnt box on the shelf so it's time to load a hundred .308s and have some fun on the range. Load today is Sierra's suggested accuracy load of 43.9 gn of IMR-8208 XBR. Loading in Lapua cases with 210M primers. Whatta Hobby!

Will be trying them in a couple different M-14s, one 16.5" and a 22". Also a 24" bolt rifle. Whatta Hobby!

Little chilly this morning at 22 deg. but I got out to for a bit to try these bullets. Fired 30 rnds in Lapua brass with 210M primers loaded with 43.9 gn of IMR-8208 out of my 24" 1-10 X-Caliber barreled Savage .308 with an OSS HX-QD .358 magnum TI suppressor. Average speed 2791 with an SD of 6.1. Stout recoil with a nice sharp report. Sub .5 moa so I think these bullets will work nicely for practice when I don't feel like spending the big bucks for the usual Bergers. Whatta Hobby!

Down here 22 degrees only occurs for a day or two each winter. I don't think the bullets would want to leave a nice warm bore of a rifle barrel when fired.

You have dedication (and apparently thick skin).

My blood thickens and I tend to slow down around zero. Actually when it's below freezing I limit myself to only a short range time. 30 rnds is good for about 20 minutes and I go in and warm by the fire. Whatta Hobby!

I think the last time we hit zero HERE was back in the 80's. Schools closed due to frozen pipes. Car tires were stuck on the frozen ground. Driving was very dangerous. Even wrapped water pipes froze.

It was a disaster---we've just not use to it and don't care to get use to it.

Shooting, even hunting, took back burner.

Again, admire your dedication to the sport. It should be an Olympic event instead of some of the BS that is performed but I guess America would be the only country allowed to shoot.

Having way too much fun. Walked out through the snow and retrieved a target from yesterday. Up close it looks a lot more like 1 moa than the 1/2 I thought I had shot yesterday. Still pleased with the load. Whatta Hobby!

Ok, so with the same 169 gn bullet and load a little better 100 yd 10 rnd group. A bit under 1/2" works for me. While goofing in the shop today I thought it might be interesting to see, side by side from left to right 168 gn smk, 169 gn hpbt-cn and a 175 gn smk. I noticed the bt on the 169 and 175 were similar in length but the 169 was considerably sharper angle. Bullet shapes are noticeably different. Yep, way too much time on my hands. Whatta Hobby!
