I have no intention of making any as I won't lie to self. Losing weight??? Fat chance [pun intended] as my daughter has supplied me with enough candy bars and cookies to last me to the 4th of July. The candy bars are in the freezer and the tins of cookies [Christmas] are put up away from the K9 children. I limit myself to three cookies per day and 1-2 candy bars per week!
Every fall I order a box of oranges that helps support the local Amish children, so this is my usual treat to self.
K9's like cookies, dislike my oranges so I do not have to share. Chocolate is a definite no-no for them!

Yep, a no-no for any dog.

Not really aresolution...but the same every year, only one word...SIMPLIFY. Things can get complicated if you let them. Life is a process; we do things repetitively, the same way, we falling habits. Try to arrange the process (sometimes called a habit) to take fewer steps, arrange the order, etc. Just little things as you go. Think about what you never think about. You'd be surprised changing little things does make a big difference

Chocolate isn’t the canine death threat it’s been made to be. All depends upon the type of pooch, size, and weight.
Emergency vets constantly get frantic calls from people.
“OMG! My dog ate a Hershey’s kiss. Can you save her???”
I made a similar call once. Our Rott devoured a 1 pound block of chocolate and a full package of Sudafed. I was told to relax. She’s going to be stoned and will probably crap in the house.
Both were correct. She lived on for many more years until she passed away at 16 years old.

Between her and the German Shepherds pushing chairs and stools to grab things from pantry shelves and the top of the fridge, they ate a lot more than that. Including all the dried Hungarian sausage I truly thought I had well out of reach.
They were good kids. Just a lot smarter than anyone gave them credit for.

With the exception of lettuce my twelve year old, 120 lb yellow Lab will absolutely devour and flourish on any consumable within reach of his muzzle or paws. I have even caught him on a few occasions eating cat sheit sandwiches he's sniffed out in the garden. Wife says don't feed him bananas, garlic, onions, chocolate or raisins. I say BS; he savors all those things, fruits, vegetables (fresh or rotten), candies, chocolate, etc. It don't matter; he's like a canine turbo vacuum cleaner. He likes Marlboro menthol cigarette butts the neighbor has discarded in the street and cigar butts when he can find them. I've had fresh bread, hamburgers, and baked trout sitting on the counter top but, not for long if he's within smelling distance. He's even eaten twenty dollar bills I absently left on my work bench. When all is said and done though, this Lab has been my faithful friend and companion for many years. Best dog I ever owned.

Like JB wrote, "All depends upon the type of pooch, size, and weight." A tiny little chihuahua or lap dog is a different story.

One of my former co-workers had a Rott that ate bricks. The dog would lay at the brick steps and gnaw on them grinding down the bricks and her teeth.

If a person can and will spend the time with their dogs and cats it's amazing how much we can learn about their abilities. Again, depending upon breed, they can be very smart and smarter than we realize. They can sense things that humans can't. They all have their unique personality just like a human, we just have to notice it. This extends to other forms of life as well. Birds can be very intelligent and even fish. I've seen calf's playing like dogs in the field and will bat a ball around with each other if given one. I've seen young donkey's playing with dogs in the house (saw that on TV tho).

If my dogs raid my chocolate stash, I will have to speak to them most severely!

My New Years resolutions will be: Drink more, sleep more, do less, eat more, maybe a few other things. It's going to be rough to follow through but I truly believe I can do it.
