I collect Puma knives. The place to find scarce models is eGun dot de. I don' speak German, but my close friend in Budapest does, and he bids for me there. In exchange, I order reloading supplies and gun parts for him, It works out well for both of us.
Most recently, he scored these 2 for me. First is a Puma pocket hunting knife with stag scales. Now I need a cheap bottle of wine to try the corkscrew!

Next was a Puma "Capri" boating/diving knife with leg scabbard. Polymer handle. This has the White Hunter style blade like the auto and pilot's knife.
Attachment 52096
Awesome! I love the White Hunter style blade.
So much so I had a Damascus well, pattern welded at least, one made for me.
He did a good job working from just a handful of images.
Attachment 52099
I love it! SW
Definitely a big game knife.
I likes the work done on the patterned version.

Latest acquisition is a virtually new Interarms era Walther PPK/S. Have never had such a small pistol. Bought it b/c it was pretty to me, and b/c it gives me a useful pocket pistol that I can carry when out and about, in the office or whatever. Shoots everything I've loaded in the magazine. Remington FMJ's have been less than impressive. Winchester FMJ's are noticeably better. Best of all is Fiocchi FMJ. Noticeably more bang and best accuracy of all types fired. Have not made up my mind about FMJ or JHP ammo. My opinion is that penetration will be most important. Consider that no round will do much if not well placed. That PPK/S hits like pointing my finger out to 7-10 yds w/ one hand. Same results at 15 yds. w/ two hands. Will need to pick up a second magazine ... and ammo! Sincerely. bruce.
Last one I bought was a Glock 43x. Never been much of a Glock fan, but I kind of liked this little 10 shot 9mm. Already have a Glock 17.
With the new anti-gun law they're trying to pass, the wait for the background check took two months being so backed up. I have two AR lowers
on Order and hope to get them before the State passes the new laws.
latest edition for personal stuff was a No 32 Mk 3 scope,
I have 2 T's one has a repro mount and scope, the other a righteous mount, but sports a weaver,
gonna make one mostly correct (numbers won't match)
maybe , somewhere,

Interesting rifle and scope.
I know Weaver was a lot like Marlin when it came to using up salable goods.
Those look like Marksman caps on the turrets.
Love the blued steel tubes a lot. It's too bad Weaver dropped those~ much better looking on classic guns to my eye.

that scope is not correct, and will be replaced with the correct No 32,
I have a handful of older weavers and redfield's for whatever reason,
have one on a sled mount for an AR,
however my favorites are the Unertl's and Lyman's
Only thing new for me was a Blue Sky import Garand. Nice generic rifle, rebuilt a few times, last one was with a Winchester barrel. Gonna take it to the gun show this weekend to sell it off. A friend needed some money so I helped him out.
My new Swiss rifle. This is a K11 which is a short version. I went to milsurps and learned a little about them. The fore end was a light blond so I went overboard with red dye but it finally balanced out.

Nice tiger on that stock.

English, that went to Singapore, got a rebuilt, then to Canada, and then the US,
sat in a guys house not 15 minutes from me for 40 yrs,
he decided to unload it and I picked it up for a very fair price,
I just noticed the weirdo hammer in pic #1. I want to clarify; I didn't make that. I fouond it at a rummage sale and it was so weird I had to have it.
Attachment 52559
The tiger striping is what inspired me to buy the K11. I look for decent metal and the wood I can fix up.
The guy inadvertently made something interesting. The "handle" has some spring to it. Another thing that I should consider doing, but won't. I swear in a couple of years I'm going to see it and say, yup, that was my idea.
Your late on the water pipe...I've seen it and used it. The metal is way slicker than wood and it adds a little weight. It just doesn't feel right. It sucks but in a pinch...
It was my idea to pay for groceries with a charge card. 1973 I got my first one. I bought things with it(but in fifty yrs. I've never had a balance), but you still had to stand in line at the grocery and waited for the guy in front to count out the bills and coins and God forbid, the old lady who slowly wrote out a check.
A couple of years ago I saw the last Old Lady pay for her groceries with a check. I should have gotten a picture.

In a bit of beater condition from a pawnshop. 20.00 OTD.
After a good cleaning and some structural repair, it makes images like these:

Great detail on the weathered power pole. SW
The older Tamrons were my favorites.
After long hiatus after selling whole collection to Dean at DGR (rip)many years ago, ended up buying 3 more m1s over last few weeks to have a baseline 5 rifle m1 collection again. Not 36 like used to have, but nice having a few to look at again.

I've been after a dot sight for an EBR. Read reviews and went for a Vortex Striker. Palmetto was out, but just got some in, and as part of a Dad's day sale, threw in 10x 30 round AR mags and shipped for free. Worked for me! Cashed in some winning scratcher cards and just did the deal. :banana100: SW

I collect Puma sharp stuff. This razor came up on a Euro auction site, and my main man in Budapest grabbed it for me at a very favorable price. Probably won't be shaving with it, though. SW
Attachment 52937
The last time the barber shaved the back of my neck, he used one of those, and I'm fairly certain it was the same one pictured.
Let us know how you make out with the red-dot.
Curious about dot size, and ring diameter. I'd ditch the A/R riser on it for something a bit lower over the bore to use on my old school rifles...
Regards,
Doc Sharptail
The riser is there to put the dot above the front sight, so I'll probably leave it in place. I've got an AR with flat top rear but front sight still in place.
I recall Elmer Keith complaining AR sights sat too high back in the day. I never minded that too much. I tried an AK in Viet Nam and didn't think it was a viable weapon because the magazine was always in the road. But I've gotten used to that. SW

Nearly new Schwinn from a pawn shop.
It's just slightly small for me, but other wise all right.
That seat has gotta go though- it's turning my butt into limburger and cheese :P
It will be fine with a new seat and post extension.
Now to target some walleye :cool:

I like it! Bikes in good shape are a garage sale staple in these parts. SW

O.C. Nikkor 35mm f2.
https://i.imgur.com/6iJUSnC.jpg
7 bladed aperture.
https://i.imgur.com/Hyrcg3N.jpg
Not too shabby.
Wide open here at f2 and minimum focus distance of a bit over a foot according to the scale on the lens. In actual practice it's about 2 1/4 feet away from the image plane. Good detail with slight vignetting and a bit of barrel distortion.
https://i.imgur.com/FO2PxtI.jpg
Quick scenic of nothing at all shows moderately good definition at f5.6. Focus point was the red bricks on the structure in the back-ground.

Both me and the Mrs. got a good laugh out of this one.
Self portraiture at arms length at f5.6 :icon_wink:
I am quite impressed with this performance. I have to look it up, but IIRC, O.C. was late 60's, very early 70's.

Might be a while yet before car and truck tires are made and packaged like this. The Kevlar mounting beads on these bicycle tires mean they're foldable, and a heck of a lot easier to transport. From Wally. There's a lot of very positive on line user reviews, and the wally pricing makes them quite a steal apparently.
https://i.imgur.com/NzBlbfY.jpg
I got the last 2 in the store yesterday morning, and have one mounted on the front my Schwinn.
Good choice for a front tire ~ very stable, and easy to control. I'll get a pic up with one on the bike.

Doc Sharptail

There it is with the new Kevlar folding tire on the front wheel. Outer diameter differences are quite obvious here. Much improved stability and control with the narrower profile tire on the front.
After a test ride today of about six miles or so, I think the bearing issue may be finally dealt with. I'll check for side-play on the wheel in the a.m., and take it from there.

Doc Sharptail
By the looks of the seat adjustment I'd say you were 6' or more.
As a kid I had a Sears JC Higgins bike with a 2 speed hub. No extra chains or sprockets, you changed gears by lightly tapping the peddle backwards like you applying the brakes. After I married me and the wife bought a couple of cheap 10 speeds. We didn't ride them much and they just turned to rust, even though they were out of the weather. That's why we bought cheapo's.
My last employer provided us with vehicles but also bikes to ride around the plant. They only bought Schwinn's. I know Schwinn is sold world wide and has gone through some hands but I was surprised when the latest one they bought for me was stamped "Made in Romania".
Used to be a shade over 6' when I was a bit younger. Probably closer to 5'-11 3/4" now, but inseam is still 32". 18" MTB frames are the norm now, and actually a little too small for most normally sized North Americans. I see a lot of high seat post extension these days. Not quite to the limit line on the seat post on mine.
The origin stickers are still on mine with design and assembly done in Canada, and major fabrication is now done in China.
It's the heaviest bicycle I've ever owned. The majority of it is steel frame, and I estimate total weight being close to 40 lbs. I get to lug that thing up 8 steps every time I leave here with it.
I think I am going to look for a higher profile road style tire for that rear wheel. I've gotten a boost in speed with the bearing job done, and don't want to lose it by going to a smaller outer diameter rear tire.
Regards,
Doc Sharptail
I forgot to state the Schwinn's my employer bought were plain Jane standard bikes with standard handlebars and single speed. They were steel framed and heavy too.
You could get any color you wanted as long as it was yellow.
Made a major improvement to riding comfort on this bike with an angle adjustable replacement handlebar stem.
https://i.imgur.com/QpesMji.jpg
There's the factory thread-less stem. It had me leaning so far forward that I was pulling myself forward on the seat to a really uncomfortable sitting position.
https://i.imgur.com/MKf0tyc.jpg
There's the adjustable angle replacement. It will elevate to 65 degrees. I don't have it quite up that far at roughly 50 degrees.
Now I'm staying in the proper place on the seat.
It also takes the strain off the lower back, shoulders, and arms. I did have to buy an extra tube spacer to put under the different base dimension stem. The friendly local bike shop was a big help in finding the right sized aluminum spacer ring.

Doc Sharptail
My gun buying days are mostly over unless something just comes along I can't live without.
With the yards, the heat/humidity and my age I'm more concerned about yard tools to make my efforts easier and quicker. After accumulating a bunch of gas saws, trimmers and so on I'm leaning towards battery stuff now because often by the time you get a gas powered device started you're too exhausted to do any work with it.
Last buys have been a Dewalt 20v blower and pole saw, a Hart (WalMart) 20v line trimmer and sprayer and a tiny off-brand 8" 20v chainsaw that can be held with one hand and used while on a ladder. The saws I haven't used yet. Also bought a B&D elec edger to use as a stump/root grinder---not much luck with that so far but it will work with enough patience.
Until fall weather arrives I'm spending as little time outside as possible.
