The Nakhoda was a private yacht build in 1929 and owned by automobile body
manufacturer F.J. Fisher of Detroit.

At the start of WW2 it was renamed the USS Zircon and outfitted for naval service
and commissioned in March 1941 as an armed yacht. Two three inch naval guns and
two 30 cal machine guns were also installed.

During the war it was onP1010039.jpgP1010040.jpg patrol from Cuba to Newfoundland. It was sold after WW2
