Thread: Antietam battlefield

    Default Antietam battlefield

The non-profit formerly known as the Civil War Trust is trying to buy the last parcel of private land left in the middle of the battlefield. I gave them some $$ this morning. It is a legit organization, although its overhead has gone up since it was "professionalized." Previously almost all of the money went to buy land. They are still pretty good at getting match funds and negotiating sales prices. Right now we are getting hit from all sides by requests for political donations. I am considering this gift to the Battlefield Trust as my response.

Antietam was a turning point in that conflict and it's worth keeping the battlefield intact.

    Thank you for noticing!

I've been to Antietam as well as Gettysburg many times. I'm glad such organizations want to preserve our heritage.
