Thread: Winchester m1917 converted to 22lr

  1. Default Winchester m1917 converted to 22lr

Good afternoon I am reaching out to you as I thought someone on this forum may have idea on who did this conversion from 30.06 to 22lr? The conversion looks professional and haven’t seen a conversion like this before. It is Winchester m1917 action with a mixture of Eddystone and Winchester parts. The bolt is Winchester and has had the bolt face and extractor claw modified for a 22lr
The barrel looks original and has had a 22lr liner fitted. Interesting in that the end of the military barrel has been turned down and they have fitted a sleeve at the end and soldered on the front sight.
On closer inspection I have noted that on the rear sight protectors (extractor side) there are the remains of 3 screws which have been cut. There is also an additional threaded hole in the bolt sleeve.

There are no proof marks so not likely to be an uk conversion. It has MNS stamped on the receiver.

    Any help would be appreciated
