Time to get out of the United Nations (UN) as well. As Americans, we don't need the UN telling us how to live and/or how to run our country.
Pack bags and turn our backs on something we created for our own benefit?
Without nasty repercussions on a worldwide stage?
Personally I don’t think “cut and run” has ever been a successful solution.
There must be something else done to correct the flaws.
If we knew what…?

Plus, we are the main source of their wealth. This is why Trump threatened to pull out during his 1st term. Germany and a couple of others started to ante up after that. From what all I read we are still the main supporters though with some countries paying hardly anything.
JB White agree; Russia or China would love to have the UN Bldg on their soil.
Trump is bringing NATO back into focus. I do agree we must pare down our $$ support but to leave would be completely isolationist and we would lose all the hidden back channel communication and unofficial " snooping" that everyone uses.
So how far do we let ourselves be pushed around, I think that enough is enough. Better to sit down with a known enemy than an unknown friend. @ least we know that Putin can't be trusted without America having a big stick. Uncle sucker is Europe's friend.

The war in Europe has been over for 80 years, and we still have troops over there that must have been forgotten. No reason to have been in Europe for 75 of those. Every country in NATO is capable of providing their common protection, and the U.S. can provide help should it be needed.
Yes both the Europeans and Canada (my country) should have done more on the military side and all are now in process of doing it. Having said that, what Trump is doing is so bizarre that most non-Americans are wondering if he is sane. He has basically been siding with the Russian dictatorship over the Western, capitalist democracies. He has started fights with his two closest neighbours including Canada which has always been considered to be the USA's closest friend and ally and has been basing his statements and justifications on nonsense. The reality is that almost no fentanyl moves from Canada to the USA. According to US figures, only about 40 pounds per year versus about 22,000 from Mexico. In fact more of that stuff moves from the USA to Canada. What he has achieved is to do more for Canadian unity in one week than our useless Prime Minister has done in eight years. There is now a country-wide spontaneous boycott of American goods and I understand that it is spreading to American franchises as well (I can't say for sure since I am currently wintering in Florida). The other reality is that tariffs on goods entering the USA from Canada will increase the cost of those goods that Americans must pay. Does nobody in his cabinet understand economics?

President Trump is reflecting and nothing else in my opinion. A tariff is an import tax, don't buy the goods one does not pay a tax. I agree with the President on bringing our troops/money home and to hell with the rest of the world. Siding with Putin? Look what siding with Europe has gotten for Uncle Sam and the American taxpayer. Does one realize what one pound of fentanyl can be broken down into? One gram is one gram too much and will kill deadly. America is now the most powerful kid on the block and if we keep sending our $$$ overseas we won't.

Sometimes I don’t know what Trump is on about. I’m not making up excuses or translations.
I’m just going to wait it out hoping it’s some sort of strategy. Meanwhile he’s pissing off a lot of people everywhere.
He isn’t very diplomatic but he never was. We knew that. We voted for him.
Better him than Harris! That would have been yet another wound that never heals.
