Woman was killed yesterday about 10 miles West of where I had a close call. Don't know the details about her except to add cargo trains travel those same rails daily w/o any mishaps. Amtrak has only been back a short time in our area and already racked up another one.
On my adventure a few years ago the train came up on the intersection I was crossing. Large buildings are there, close to the spot, and served as a blind. The train did not sound their horn till they saw me crossing the highway and were past the buildings. This was at the edge of the city limits with very low RR speed limits. To give you an idea of how fast the train was traveling, both engines + the first 2 or 3 cars went through the intersection before the signal lights and cross arms began to function. I didn't clear by much.
Vehicles that have literally no brakes should be required to travel at creep speeds till there is full view open tracks with no congestion.
