Too many Planes are falling out of the sky ...

Private Planes needless to say. They're crashing into
houses, parks, freeways killing the pilot, passengers
and innocent bystanders in growing numbers. It makes
me wonder why after more than a hundred years of
aviation experience we would still not have it nailed down.
Maybe the licensing test is too lenient as is the regular
driving test. If the number of bad drivers on our roads is
any yardstick, then maybe the same can be said of the sky.
New drivers with their new cars think you no longer need
to change the oil so maybe the newly appointed captains
of the sky think likewise. That would explain engine stalls.

Anyone who agrees to go up in a private plane piloted by a
friend or friend of a friend needs to have his head examined.

Exactly. No fire? Probably because it ran out of gas.

They're throwing that hero word around again. The pilot is a hero because he avoided casualties on the ground. Dropping nose first like a stone I don't think he had much control over the situation.
All the same it's a tragedy those people died that way. They had time to panic but probably not enough time to pray.

No explosion as it hit. No fire = No gas.
When you run out of gas at ten thousand feet
it's a long walk downwards to a gas station.

Who's a flier around here? Does that airplane have any glide at all?

              Yes, it glided straight downwards.

We just had a crash locally. A bunch of young people got in a plane headed to Nev. Too much baggage and the autopsy showed the pilot was on drugs. The cause of the rest of the crashes, I don't know.
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.

There was, in Switzerland, an old Ju-52 (correct me if I am wrong y'all!) that fell out of the sky just recently also, killing 20 passengers plus the crew. I know that at least 2 planes going to Oshkosh this year, crashed.

Planes are getting older and older, fast. Pilots are getting more and more harried by FAA IMHO. Piloting is being replaced by "licensed competence", also JMO. I really know not a lot, other than that a license is not in my budget, let alone airplane ownership!

Something fishy about that video. Even if the engine failed due to lack of fuel, or any other reason, the aircraft could still glide. Normal procedure would be to drop the nose slightly to preserve airspeed, turn into the wind and look for a place to set it down before too much airspeed bled off. Looked like the pilot wasn't even trying to survive.
