Angry crowd prevents the police from arresting a BLM leader

An angry crowd outside a defiant BLM leader's home prevents police to arrest him for assaulting a cop

NYPD retreated after six-hour standoff with angry crowd outside defiant BLM leader's home as they try and arrest him for assaulting a cop - He turns himself in AFTER they leave

NYPD officers arrived at the home of Derrick Ingram, 28, to arrest him for assaulting a cop on Friday morning and Ingram, founder of social advocacy group Warriors in the Garden, refused to let the police enter without a warrant and streamed the stand-off on Instagram Live, drawing a crowd of about 100 protesters to the street

Officers called off the arrest and retreated about six hours later - eliciting outrage from city police unions..

Ingram then turned himself in to the NYPD's Midtown North Precinct on Saturday morning

He was joined by a large crowd of protesters who marched to the precinct with him to show support

An NYPD spokeswoman said Ingram was booked on a charge of second-degree assault in connection with a June 14 incident during a protest in Midtown Manhattan

Ingram's group claims he was accused of attacking a female officer by using a bullhorn to shout in her ear
