When my kids were little there was a lot of pressure to drive hundreds of miles at Christmas to see Grandma and Grandpa, and small details like the winter weather were considered a poor excuse.
One year the drive up was fine but the drive back was 10 hours of white knuckles in white-out conditions.
Still for these folks it's much worse.
