There are some school administrators that should not be administrators

It was decided to cancel the event this year because it could be upsetting for children who can't afford a Halloween costume.

In my day mostly everyone made their own costumes, a little burnt cork face so you look dirty, old clothes and a stick with a stuffed hanky on the end and you were a hobo or your mother made or put together something I can't believe mothers of these students of color or others can't do the same and if they don't don't want to celebrate it or not, that's their choice!

Also the administrator claimed that a number of students, specially African American boys, do not celebrate Halloween and feel excluded by the annual event. However a photo from the school district's Instagram page shows students hosting an event supporting the Black Lives Matter movement

Seattle elementary school cancels its annual Pumpkin Parade because it 'marginalizes students of color who don't celebrate Halloween'

The newsletter states that students will still recognize the season by participating in activities like a 'thematic study of fall'
