The Railroads are a mess. The new agreement is not up to a vote by union members. If it were, 90% of members would vote to strike. The RR companies are dead set upon computer operated no engineers on URRs (Unmanned RailRoads.)
They have reduced the numbers of Engineers and Conductors by 50% doubling the length of trains.. Next they will remove the Conductors and leave only the Engineers on the trains. Actually the so called Conductors are go fers! If the train is stopped for any reason, the Conductor gets out and marches down the train to try to find the problem. If they get gone that means the engineer would have to walk three miles back and then return and then safely run the train for 14-18 hours.
Ah, it is OK they pay him a lot to be a superman.
