    1911 Firing Pin Hole Dia.

    Is the hole[where pin protrudes] smaller on a 1911 than a 1911A1?

This one is smaller than my other 45s[5] does not look like its peened.I do not like drilling the slide,I'll cut a pin down til it works.

        Soli:

BEFORE cutting anything, check the length and outline of the suspect firing pin against a known good one, with a micrometer. And if the dimensions check out, test the firing pin stop and spring length, you might have a peaned up firing pin stop, or a worn out spring.

        Just saying.

I thought a 38 super or 9mm took a slimmer pin. Is your shooter a 45? Also is your pistol an original 1911 or 1911a1? All government manufactured 45s I've ever seen used the same firing pin.

It's .a 1911,I swaged the hole to the same as my other Colts.Works good now.Note,it seems that the web [breech face] is not as thick as a 1911a1.
