Wtk: Markings on remington rand slide

Can anyone tell me about the "M1911A1 US ARMY" markings on the right side of a WWII Remington Rand slide?

Three types easiest way for me to remember
Type 1 New York spelled out
Type II font so the length of the slide stop ("N.Y." Now)
Type III font smaller and is about three quarters length of slide stop moving front of pistol to back.

Well reread your post and your asking about right side. I remember another post I think on Milsurps but it may have been the old surplusrifles forum. It was a RR slide marked that way. Let me see if I can find the post

I can't get my IPAD to paste link. Was a thread in 1911forum.com in 2008. Double struck Ithaca. In that thread the Double struck Ithaca was more commonly found than other manufacturers but RR is listed as doing some. Clawsons book supposedly has a section on this. My book is buried, if you have one handy I'd see what it says. Neat variation mistake or not.

The M 1911A1 U.S. Army on the right side of the slide was originally required on all replacement slides. In October of 1943 this requirement was dropped.

Thanks for the input. So that makes this a pre-43 Remington Rand replacement slide, which could conceivably be correct for any rebuilt 1911 or 1911A1?

It would be pre 1944, as the requirement for the marking was dropped in late 1943. In the field or rebuild the slide would have been used on any pistol that needed one with no regard to maker.

The pre-43 replacement slides would have the large Syracuse, New York marking.
