Hello gentlemen, I'm not much of a pistol guy, mostly service rifle and shotgun. I'm 67 yrs. old, retired, its been a long winter here in western Pa. with lots of computer time, and playing with all the lads in the safe, and developed an itch. I'm looking to buy a full size 1911, and have been looking at various models from Kimber Target II and Gold Match II, Springfield Range Officer Elite Target,Elite Operator, and Colt Target 1911"s. Any suggestion's on these models or others you could recommend would be greatly appreciated. You can't take it all with you. I'm in good health, and want to play with some new toys.
Need advice on full size 1911 models

tonybt99,
I've had some enjoyment shooting all kinds of 1911's over the years, to include Kimber, Nighthawk, and of course Colt. Kimber is my vote for an all-around excellent quality and reliable shooter that's not gonna break the bank. Just my humble opinion. Hopefully you'll get more ideas from others here on this forum.
Best Regards from Virginia,

Springfield Armory and Remingtons aren't bad either from what I've heard. To Error Is Human To Forgive Is Not SAC PolicyComment

If you want to go cheap side, Rock Island aka Armscorp 1911's in various calibers is one of the cheaper ways to get started. MSRP is under $435 w/ free shipping at Bud's Gun shop. and toss in a $30 or so FFL transfer, you're still short of a C note. Their GI is a mix of 1911 and 1911a1 features, and they use a smooth wood grip.
