    Early Colt 1911 barrel ID

    Hello
    Purchased a 1917 commercial government model 45 and this barrel was in it, can someone help I D it, realize this is not a military 1911 but hoping someone could help, tried a few other websites with no luck

    Photos too small and dark to tell much about the markings, but left side of barrel lug appears to have Argentine barrel proof marking.

      B3DD5995-9A55-4F5D-A40E-97E89D92BFE9.jpgThank you for your response, Sorry for the bad photos , was afraid it might be Argentine, guess I’ll be looking for a early commercial barrel now. I think the correct one has a h and p top of the chamber visible thru ejection port.

        The H and P marked barrel is for the military Model 1911.

        A commercial barrel for a 1917 Government Model will had a P and a N stamped on the bottom of the barrel just ahead of the lug. Going to be a hard one to find.

            Your photos don't open up, so can't see marking. Polished hood looks like commercial. Does it have a marking on the back of the barrel, or possibly one on the top of the chamber (visible right at the front of the ejection port.)
