    Rem. UMC 1911 Grips

The grips on my Rem. UMC 1911, #17xxx, are very dry. This pistol is as it was when brought home from WWII, but I do take it out and shoot it every now and then.

Anything I can do for the grips, or should I just leave them alone? Don't want to ruin them.

    Thanks in advance.

A mixture of boiled linseed oil and turpentine (the real thing) mixed 50/50 will liven the wood up, but not coat it. Easiest brushed on with a tooth brush. Best to put too little than too much. The turpentine lets the BLO penetrate.
