Could someone look up a Colt 1911 SN # 554852 ? thank you.

Don't have the SRS records but, according to Meadows' list, #554858 went to the USMC in Nicaragua (Lost). There are quite a few pistols in this range that are so listed. Nothing specific on your number.

Shipped between December 5, 1918 and February 5, 1919. Only a Colt letter will give you the exact date and destination. A lot of small shipments to interesting places during this time period. The war was over, production of the 1911 had ceased, and they were being sent to small bases. I have one in this range that was shipped to Washington D.C.
