Ithaca M1911A1 slide damage

I am looking for any suggestions about possible repair to this early Ithaca slide, at
some point in time, an adjustable rear sight was installed and a small are filed down
to fit the new rear sight. The front sight was not changed

This slide is in really nice original finish and I would like to save if possible

If you want to go back with an original type sight, nothing to do but have it welded up and machined for original sight. If an early Ithaca slide, original finish was Du-Lite blue over sandblasted finish.
