    A truly sad day

One of my previous co-workers was in the Navy back in the 90's. He was issued a 1911. He was surprised he was issued a gun at all being on a ship while in active duty but he was.

The 1911 is still Utah's state pistol.

The Marines are almost always the last to hold onto old stuff, partly from conservatism and partly from being often underfunded. Its only been in the last couple of years the Marines have dropped the M16 rifle (M16A4 version) not affectionately referred to by the troops as "the musket" in favor of the M4 Carbine series of ARs.

Interesting parts list for the M45A1. Dual recoil spring may find its way into mine.

          Thanks for that info.

I have a couple of Glock 3rd generations and one 2nd generation I had thought about upgrading to the Gen 4 dual recoil spring. I didn't know such was made for the 1911.

            that was done long ago,

            thinking 60's , maybe earlier,

Detonics even made a drop in unit ,
got one down in the safe somewhere

                my Detonics Combatmaster shot well,

I have one squirreled away for another 1911 but never saw the reason to replace it
