What modifications for new GI magazines for bullsseye competition? OR which commercial mags ?

why would you modify the mags?
if they work, they work, and since you are only loading 5 rounds, likely no need to tweak?

Chip McCormack or Wilson are the go to's IIRC, for commercial

New as in unused, or late production? The WW2 military magazines by the M.S. Little Co. and it's subcontractors Scovill and Risdon were some of the finest ever made. Colt had Little to make the tubes and attach the base, and then they formed the feed lips and completed the magazine.
