I have a colt 1911, serial # 491616, This is still blued, with some ww11 parts, namely the barrel and grips. I purchased this from the wife of a vet who served on PT's in the Pacific. Any chance of tracking down where it was shipped or issued? Thanks in adance

The nearest number is 491613, 10/10/18, Springfield Endurance Test. Model 1911's at this time were shipped in no semblance of order, and only a Colt letter will tell you where it was originally shipped. Some of the late production did go to interesting places though. -
