Tip on .45 pistol magazines.

I've been generally very pleased with the Wilson mags, but they are pricey. Have also had great luck with Shooting Stars and a host of others. I have found some pistols only work well with one kind of high tech after market mags, other pistols will take two or three types.
I strongly suggest the Metalform mags sold through Brownell's. Same mag that Colt used for years, but they had their name stamped on it, instead of Metalform's. I especially like the 7 round, fixed base model with the rounded follower. The feed lips are already formed for almost any kind of ammo, including wad cutters. The price is the best on the market for the quality and is less expensive than most others!
Now, I'll tell you why I absolutely love these mags. I ran a longevity test on these and other mags for the Rifle Team Equipment Repair Shop at Quantico years ago. I stopped the test at 2,500 rounds per mag and the Metalform's functioned flawlessly throughout the test, in five different tightened Match Pistols. The issue mags went bad as early 17 rounds and NONE of them lasted more than 650 rounds.
Further, I have all but let my magazine lip forming tools rust into oblivion, since the Metalform mags came out. They are that good! Anyone who ever worked the lips of magazines for Match .45 Wadcutter guns can tell you what a pain that job can be!
