    1911 WW2 Marked barrels

I have just acquired my uncles remington rand 1911 from WW2 it has a colt 45 auto marked on the top of the barrel and a c in a square on the right lug. Some people tell me it's post war. It can be because he received it 4 months before the war was over. He was in Germany and he never did anything to it it's still in the original holster marked 1945 I'm 50 and I can remember this pistol my whole life

Colt barrels were used in only the very earliest of Remington Rands while High Standard was getting into production of barrels, and they would not have been marked as you describe. The last military barrels used in late war Colt production had a C in a square on the right side of the lug, and a P on the left side of the lug. The C/square barrels marked COLT .45 AUTO on top of the chamber are post WWII manufacture.
