Lwt 1911 commander

I picked up a 1958 lwt colt commander. It is in the original box w/ a customs seal from Jamaica. Has anyone. Heard of this? On the seal states do not open this box while in transit on this vessel.

Congrats on picking up a nice handgun............. My guess is that the seal permitted someone to retain possession of it while they were temporarily in Jamaica/ in transit there.
