Sounds more like late '90s to me...about 1997-98?

Right on the money. 1997. Peter Cardone was the dealer.

Amazing price on the early #1171, 1911 Colt -- especially when you consider what they go for now just 14 years
later! I need a time machine (don't we all).

Let's put some more plutonium in the Delorean Doc and go back to 1912!!

An inflation calculator puts that $1095 at $1623 in today's money. I'd pay $1600 for it today if it's as good as stated. It performed better than most 401k or IRA's.

I can recall holding a complete WWI 1911 rig (pistol, mags, mag pouch, holster, belt, and first aid kit) at a show in 1998. It was $1000. I was seriously considering it, but hadn't started to talk turkey with the seller. I passed on it because I realized I didn't know jack about the pistol, other than the basics of how to tell a 1911 from an ...A1 and didn't want to get taken.

It didn't take very long in my education to realize that I should have handed the guy the cash and walked away with the rig. Marriage, mortgage, and two kids later, I don't have that kind of cash sitting around anymore. Curse you, ignorance of youth!!!!
